Join us for wine training at a WSET Level 2 course in the south of France. This course is designed to advance your skills and wine knowledge with an expert-led, GUEST-approved wine training course. We run our courses for yacht crew professionals in the French Riviera.
Looking behind the label
This qualification offers broad coverage of the world of wines, delving further into the geography, basic tasting technique and with a wide range of quality international wines to taste and assess, will broaden your appreciation and understanding of wine in a professional yet enjoyable and entertaining way. Whilst building upon the Introductory WSET Level 1 course, there is no need to have had any other wine experience to attend this course – a little knowledge, and of course, huge enthusiasm is all that is needed!
On the course you will learn :
- How to taste and describe wine using the WSET Level 2 Systematic Approach to Tasting Wine®(SAT)
- How environmental factors, grape-growing, winemaking and maturation options influence the style and quality of wines made from eight principal grape varieties.
- The style and quality of wines:
- made from 22 regionally important grape varieties
- produced in over 70 geographical indications (GIs) around the world
- How grape varieties and winemaking processes influence key styles of:
- Sparkling wines
- Fortified wines
- Key labelling terms used to indicate origin, style and quality
- Principles and processes involved in the storage and service of wine
- Principles of food and wine pairing

Course Information
Course Pre-requisite: No previous qualification required (although holding WSET Level 1 is advantageous).
GUEST Program: Accredited as GUEST Program Specialist Unit 13.
Classroom Course Length: 3 full days (09h00 – 17h30). Plus a minimum of a further 12 hours self-study in advance of the course.
Course Fee: Please contact us directly for prices for the current Academic year. Multiple bookings for the same yacht can be offered at a discount. The fee includes all tasting samples, materials, exam fees and refreshments.

Course Educators
With the continued and overwhelming success of our Wine Courses, and with Pass rates at 96%, Fine Wine Works are now in their 18th year as an Approved Programme Provider for the WSET®. We run internationally recognised and accredited qualification courses for Yacht Crew and anyone interested in Wine. As we are primarily a wine supplier for yachts, our courses take place in the Spring and Autumn when crew are less likely to be busy onboard.
Your educator for this course will be Helen who holds the WSET® Diploma with Honours and is also a Certified Educator for WSET® so you are in very safe hands! Helen will be assisted by Amy who holds the WSET® Level 3 Award in Wine with Distinction.
