With a past career as a professional chef, Helen can offer private Cookery and Wine sessions in your home or holiday villa – hands on practical exercises and recipe demonstrations with a strong wine matching element.
For example, a full day session could include:
Exploring local markets and artisan shops to find the best and most interesting seasonal ingredients
Visit and tasting at local winery – and pick up a bottle or two to experiment with food matching!
Menu planning and recipe devising – a bit of “Ready Steady Cook”, if you like!
Recipe demonstrations and / or hands on practical cookery session – from canapés and buffet nibbles to full a 3 course lunch or dinner.
Continuous food and wine matching discussion (and practical tasting, of course) with handy tips and advice for both home dinner parties and restaurants.
Depending on numbers (and variables such as travel cost or equipment hire) this could cost as little as 125€ HT per person, excluding food and wine (based on a group of 4 people for a full day)
Shorter ½ day sessions could include a Food & Wine Matching session with a Cookery Demo to produce a range of bites to best illustrate why some foods marry so brilliantly with certain wines (and, indeed, why some really don’t add up to a match in heaven at all!)
FineWineWorks will create a bespoke “class” just for you – whether a “one to one” session or small groups with classes for all ages and abilities (for example, a cookery morning with the kids to help prepare lunch then the adults can join to taste the morning’s efforts – and taste some wine, naturally)
Whatever the format, you can be sure it will include a lot of tasting and finger dipping – and always with a glass close by!
Themed sessions can focus on any of the following:

Best of British – sometimes for an “ex-pat”, there is nothing quite like home
Plus sessions with a Seasonal focus for recipes and flavours – with the wines to match (from Wicked Wonderful Winter, Perfect Printemps, Sumptuous Summer and Awesome Autumn)
